These images were commissioned by architect Blainey North to illustrate the catalogue of her design collection titled ‘Man and the Machine’. Furniture and lighting inspired by the contrast between the hardness of the city - particularly the high rises and friction of Hong Kong - and the softness of the human body, the collections were subdivided under the sections ‘Chasm’, ’Strobe’ and ’Suspension’. The photography explores in abstraction the details of the objects, with the play of light suggesting and reflecting both mechanical processes and organic matter; the opposition and symbiosis between them.
